NGD: Ibanez Prestige RG1570?!?

Okay so the pawn shop had an Ibanez Prestige in a Ibanez case for $850.

Based on the serial number I know it was made at the Fuji Gen plant 2008 and it was the 186th made in March.

It has the pick ups and looks of a RG1570 but I can't be certain.

Anyways, traded in my RG370DX, Fender Princeton 112 (solid state 60 W amp), Line 6 POD 2.0 (red bean). Boss ME 50, and a few pedals (Metal zone, Ibanez Delay D10, Danelectro Daddy O, and 3 other boss distortion/od pedals). They gave me $450 credit and I paid $150 as they priced it down to $600.

I might have been able to do better by selling on classifieds but the pedals would have been a tough sell.

At first I thought the guitar was black but it actually has a really dark blue hue and at different angles it sparkles with different shades of bright blue as flecks of glitter is worked into the paint. It reminds me of a fancy bowling ball or marble.

Neck feels awesome.

Was a little worried that there was something wrong with the neck as there was a rattling at the head stock when certain strings were strummed but it turned out to be a loss nut from the locking tremolo system. All three nuts were so loose I could work them with my hand.

Very happy to turn stuff that I wasn't interested in, into a kick ass guitar!

The weird part is that there is nothing printed anywhere that suggests what type of guitar it is.

I think I would have to hand in my MG membership if I don't consider a pick up change.

Do you think this is a RG1570?

I think this will likely be a guitar that stays in the collection for a long time if not indefinitely.

The 1570 was just the more "modern" version of the old 570. They just slapped the prestige logo on it and added the "1". Sort of a re-issue of the 570. Awesome guitars. Had a couple of these a few years ago.

Don't be sorry. Ibanez stocks are almost as bad as pre-Illuminator EBMM JP stocks. I wouldn't use the V series as refrigerator magnets.

I'd put Dimarzio evolutions in it if I were you. Maybe gravity storms if you okay more rock than metal.

Evolutions scare me as I often hear comments on how it highlights your mistakes

Does this guitar need F spaced pickups?

Never mind after googling I think mine should be F spaced.

Now looking to see if I can find a deal on an F spaced Evo Set.

If it is as unforgiving as people say it is just motivation to get better.

So far I am seeing black sets for 214+ 11 to ship to Canada from Musiscian's Friend.

Kind wish there were other colour options.

I only have the bridge, and it is rather unforgiving. Being a lead player, I want it to be. I want to know its me playing the notes. Not a pickup. To each their own, though.

My RG1570 was the first "decent" guitar I owned. I hope you are are very happy together!

Thanks, I was looking at his stuff (unknowingly last night).

I am flipping back and forth between Gravity Storms and Evolutions.

Debating blue evolutions hsh set but maybe black would be better in case I want to swap it to another guitar or sell them down the line.

What single coil pairs up with the Gravity Storms?

Thanks! I am a bit more old school in my tastes so the Gravity Storm gets the edge. But both sounds great.

Probably just go with black PUPs as the black hardware and very dark blue glitter paint doesn't leave me with many options.

nothing but win with the GS set the neck is awesome.
