So, this popped up for sale on HCAF a week or so ago, and the voice inside said that it deserved better.

Here's a Box. cobbled together from other boxes.

What a sad, tragic downfall this guitar has experienced from the post it once held.

About an hour later, and half a bottle of goof-off less...

Can you believe this is the same guitar?

The dings and scars will remain, I think. Wiring Harness is complete, just need to drop it in, as well as a bridge pickup. The Trem needs some parts, though, and while I've found the parts I need, I may just elect to replace it with an OFR. ESP Synclairs are not easy things to find, and this one doesn't have an arm.

also considering stripping the finish off the back of the neck, not like that would devalue this any further. I don't think it's going anywhere, anyway.

Nice! I also rescued a beat-up Mirage Custom a few years ago, though mine was an earlier one with the Jackson headstock and HSS pickups. They're very nice guitars, and probably still undervalued for what they are. Here's mine (the one on the left...). It already had the OFR added when I got it, but I had to add my own switches and knobs and replace the output jack.

The only thing that would make that better would be if it had the original Jackson-esque headstock. Nice score, and great job getting it cleaned up!

Yeah, I realized a day or so ago that the reason the Logo is offset from the headstock angle is because it's still angled for the Jackson Headstock. Hazarding a guess, this was probably one of the first axes with the Modern HS, every example I've seen of the Lawsuit design was pre-90, and this non-lawsuit is an '89, perhaps because it was made for NAMM.

Still undecided on the Bridge pickup... Got a Dimarzio Breed coming in the mail, but I think I'm leaning towards an SD Distortion, but I've been talking with people and am also considering a BKP Holy Diver.

Mine came with a Gibson 500T, which sounds great. Since these Mirage Customs are all-maple beasts, you probably want a pickup that will warm up the sound a bit.

Honestly, the Distortion's pretty nice, especially in alder or a brighter wood. I have one in that Samick Tele I got and its probably my favorite sounding pickup so far. Go whatever you think will sound best though man :yesway:
