Found this in a local pawn shop today - I've been looking for a full hollow jazz box. This is supposed to be a late 80's model according to the guy in the store - he said they've had it in the building since 1988..!!! I'm having trouble putting a date of manufacture on the guitar- it's Korean, and the serial number is "S99094846" ?? If anyone knows anything about these serials post it up!

Anyway it's in top notch condition - a few high frets here and there but that's about the only negative. It sounds fantastic - pickups are articulate and gets a GREAT jazz tone.

Not very metal but it still rulez!! :scream: PICS!!!

How to Date an Aria Guitar

1 Locate the serial number on your guitar. If you cannot locate a serial number, chances are your guitar was manufactured before the mid-1970s. Serial numbers will be found on a plate bolted to the back of the guitar's neck on electric models or inside the body of an acoustic model.

2 Look at the first number of your serial number if one exists. Through 1987, Aria guitars serial numbers represented the year of manufacturer as either the first one or first two digits of the serial number. For example, a guitar made in 1978 might have the first two digits of 78 or the first digit of 8.

3 Determine whether your guitar's first two digits are 81 or higher. If the digits are 81 or higher, you can likely pinpoint the week the guitar was made. Guitars in this era included the year and week of manufacture as the first four digits. For example, a guitar made in the 10th week of 1988 would have the first four digits of 8810.
According to this, it appears to have been made in 1999.
So, either the salesman lied (Which, we all know salesmen never lie) or the guitar was once owned by Marty McFly.

I wouldn't be surprised - the guitar is in too good of condition to have been sitting for 25 years...he probably read the label wrong and it was "99" instead of "88".

Meh - no matter, I love it!

Hey, that's all that matters!

Congrats, by the way!
That looks nice. My jazz box GAS has increased.
