I'm with Drew on this one, from my experience power tubes just wear out and sag or they blow out and kill volume. I've never heard of a power tube going microphonic either and I've been playing tube amps for something like 15 years now.

I've always been a JJ man.

In my 2:90 the JJs sound exactly the same as the Mesa STR 440 6L6 tubes, which is a good thing. Both sound better than the STR 430s and 420s for sure, with a lot better bass response.

Plus the JJ set is like $130 while the stock Mesa set is like $180, so it's an easy decision to go and stay with JJs.
