Just picked up a new 360 Slim and first thoughts : this thing definitely is lighter and a hell of a lot cooler than the old white box. Haven't tried the built-in Wifi yet, but I have faith in it.

Took fucking forever to find since I went to Best Buy on Friday and they were out, went to the Gamestop in Salem and they were out, the OTHER one was out as well, and on a whim we checked out Target and they had one in stock; also managed to get a free controller since they were part of a "Buy a new 360 Slim, get a free controller" type deal :yesway:

Did you get the 250GB version?
Yeah, probably should have mentioned that part which explains why it was sold out everywhere.

I used up 10 out of the 20GBs on my last 360, so this time I figured I'd give myself PLENTY of room for games and shit, versus not enough space and then have to shell out more money right away.

I have 40 gigs free out of 120 :agreed:

Mass Effect 2 - 14 gigs between dual disc installs and DLC.

Yowza!

I think I might christen this guy with my copy of Mass Effect 2, but my copy of Splinter Cell Conviction is also tempting.

New one arrived :yesway:. Now to transfer over 110 gigs of crap over to the new one before doing anything else.

This is such a better design. No more need for an Intercooler, that stupid digital-out dongle is gone, built in WiFi. Although I still haven't tried out the WiFi with my AirPort/TimeCapsule yet.

EDIT: WiFi works great. But it didn't want to accept a DHCP lease from the AirPort during initial setup. But after manually entering in a private IP and running the setup. Now DHCP is working. Must have been something in the update that fixed the issue.

Transferring over 583 items and then moving over content licenses? This shit is taking FOREVER.

Yup, my Wifi worked on first try as well and it should be sweet when I get some online gaming going. Gonna have to make a new tag since I've outgrown my old one

Looks like M$ took a page out of Sony's book since, like the PS3, this thing is pretty touch sensitive. I didn't even mean to turn it on the first time. The eject/open disc tray button is also moved to the side, and is smaller and makes a little sound when you touch it. The sync button is also hidden right next to the USB port and doesn't even look like a button.

A smaller power brick and thinner cables? :yesway:

Yeah I found that out the hard way when moving the console. It spat out the disk and ended my game right there

It wouldn't be such a bad idea, if there were an option for it to ask for a confirmation before ejecting. Because you're right. It's really sensitive and can be activated purely by accident.

This is eating up a lot less power (135W compared to the original 203W). But one thing I'm noticing, is that the exhaust is only coming out of the side of the unit. And it gets quite hot. But at least the rest of the console stays pretty cool.

Also should've mention, I accidentally set mine up upside down since I wasn't paying attention. Whoops  I also just played Splinter Cell since my last post, and the entire time I couldn't hear any whirring or noise whatsoever :yesway:

Really? That's interesting given that the top of the unit looks like it'd be a damn good exhaust.

Better than it scratching your disc. I had my Xbox standing up and I was afraid my son was going to smack it and make it fall over so I set it down flat while it was still playing a game.

It put a huge scratch right around the disc. Nice! :scream:

I'll never do that again.
