I have a peavey Valve King Stack. I heard that you can replace the peavey tubes with some differnt ones, you can get more gain/distortion. Is this true, and if so, what tubes do i need to get?

I Put a TungSol ECC38 in the V1, and all JJ 12AX7s (High Gain matched) in the other slots when I had my Valveking and it sounded great. Not as great as my Mesa but it still sounded great. If you want a GREAT amp for the money the Peavey Windsor is where its at.

Thanks for the Info guys. I almost bought a WIndsor Head, but I wanted a 2 channel amp, so I got the Valveking.

You should keep non-high gain preamp tubes in it and use an OD to push it instead.

just get some solid tubes and boost it! I've heard a boosted valve king sound brutal
I have, and I was absolutely floored: VK halfstack, MT-2 dialed in as a boost, and LTD singlecut. It sounded ridiculous once I got the kid to turn his mids up.
