When i was growing up, my dad had a subscription to PopSci. I think that had a lot to do with my interest in science, technology, aerospace, even cars. Great mag... i miss reading it.

In college, in my CAD Design class (Mechanical Engineering), we had to develop a product for the RPM (Rapid Prototype Machine) and my partner and I decided to do a CBR 600 F4i, and needless to day, it didn't turn out so well...

they have ones that will print metal now. The final product is kind of porous and the pores. They then fill the pores with bronze or some other metal. (the place I saw using this made bronze sculptures and belt buckles with it) they were able to make really detailed metal parts with this technology. They also were able to use it to make complex castings like ported engine parts that would require a ton of machining.
