So I just got a super hi-z q-tuner. I got this for the neck in my zebra rg, but seeing as how i'm still waiting for my BKP C-Pig for the bridge, and technically the hi-z is a bridge pup, i threw it in there to give it a try.
Sound - I keep hearing that these sound great in the neck but dont have enough gain to work in the bridge if your into high gain. Now i'm a death metaller/soft ambient guy. One extreme to the other. This pup has plenty of room to do high gain bridge stuff. I was suprized actually, considering how many people said it couldnt. The lows sound fat and clean. It feels more like a lower output passive, but it retains tons of clarity while distorted. The highs were a little brittle, so i eq'ed my amp accordingly and it sounds awesome. The cleans are exquisite as well. Its a beautiful combo for my purposes(crushing metal yet soft and atmospheric while in clean)
I'm extremely impressed. I havnt gotten around to messing with adjusting the poles at all, so i'm sure its just going to get better from here.
These are pretty reasonable used as well(paid $80). Like i said, i orginally got it for the neck on my rg, but after playing it in the bridge, i'm really thinking about getting another for the bridge for my other rg.
Oh, i need to take a pic, but i got the black wire wound one instead of the red, and it looks quite good.
