So QR broke up, then.

Edit: So instead of starting a new band with that dude that sounds just like Tate, they're bringing him into QR? :noway:
Hopefully they will start writing good albums again.
Not with no Tate + no DeGarmo. That's all of the writing talent in the band.

Tate hasn't shown writing talent in years.
It's sort of a sad day that it has come to this. This has been a slow death for far too many years and QR was a huge influence to me growing up so I have mixed emotions. It's just too bad it had to take this long for this to happen.

I actually don't have a problem with this. Queensryche was already dead to me anyway, but at least now there's a chance they might actually write some good tunes again.

That was completely used up by 1990.
^ :agreed:
Their earlier stuff never spoke to me like it did to others, but O:M & Empire were a huge part of my childhood and a big influence on me growing up.

Honestly, that would suit me just fine if it encouraged Wilton to up his game...

I still think Promised Land is a pretty solid album but after that, there's not much I really like.
Anyway, the Queensrÿche name should be retired. I still have no hope for any good new material.

Neither has anyone else in the band. Honestly, IMO they had two good albums. I couldn't care less about the rest of their stuff anyway.
I probably said this in the thread I started last month, but Geoff has been a huge influence on me and Ryche's music has been with me since I was born in 82'. I've known it my entire life, they've been a HUGE band for me.

I think this is the best thing to happen to the band since Promised Land. If they stayed as they were and kept going, man, that would just be brutal (NOT brootz). What could they have done worse than DTC? Suppose we'll not have to find out now.

I'm stoked they kept the name, because now I can go see a Queensryche show and hear songs I grew up to like they are on the albums. With the Ryche name, they'll get better billing/production than they would have using the Rising West name.

To those who stopped caring about Ryche a while ago, when they catch them live and aren't in the loop of a member change, going to be some surprised faces there...

I've been onboard since the EP, and I have to say that this is probably the best outcome we could have expected. It's obvious Tate's heart wasn't in it anymore, and hadn't been for a long time. Ideally, the other four guys would have continued to work as Rising West and put the QR name to bed, but that may not have been commercially feasible.

At least the "new QR" can come out and play kickass versions of the old songs--even if any new material isn't up to snuff--rather than limp along with Tate's lack of interest or vocal range.

Both Tate and DeGarmo lost interest in QR's type of music a long time ago, and it's probably better if they aren't involved.
Back in '88 or '89 I saw QR when they were touring for Operation: Mindcrime AND were opening for Metallica. I still remember how amazing they sounded.

I haven't followed them much lately but it's kind of surprising that after almost 30 yrs, they decide to part ways now.

I still want one but I want the skull thing off the Operation Mindcrime album cover. :D
I've got a triryche, and I still like it. I was 18. It's a cool lookin' symbol, and like most tattoos, the best part is that it is a cool reminder of days gone by.
Wirelessly posted (HTC G2)

I'll wait until there's an actual record before passing judgement.
