What's the preferred method?

About 2lbs of c4 should do the trick.
Wirelessly posted :)yesway:)

Sanding block or file, depending how much you need to take off.
I tried using a sanding block and didn't get too flat a result. I resorted to a file and made progress far quicker and much flatter. :2cents:
I used a chisel. But ya gotta be super cautious.

Must not have been a very good block!

I personally like a very sharp chisel and a steady hand.

My method as well.
It's quite a bit that I've got to take off tbh. The nut that came with the guitar is much shorter in height than all other standard FR nuts that I've seen and own. I have no idea why it's so short, and why the route for it is subsequently so shallow, I can't imagine that it's a guitar-specific thing, however I can't find a replacement, so the guitar will have to have a standard height one fitted, but with some wood taken off. A good 2mm I'd say. I'll try all avenues but I think I'd prefer to do file > sanding block, and chisel as a last resort.
I'd do it with a file as well, and I'd also recommend using masking or painter's tape to cover the wood at the edge of the fretboard you DON'T want to take off. The nut shelf on my warmoth isn't as clean as it could be because I thought to do this halfway through, after I noticed I was starting to cut in a little bit as well as down.

I've noticed that most, if not all the fake floyd nuts are shorter. I think any aftermarket replacement would work, but I prefer the real floyd nuts.
Not sure what nut you want to use, but nevertheless, on my ltd I had to remove quite a bit. I tried sanding, then file, then I said fuck this and went to a chisel. I scored the area I wanted to remove, then went at it. Took me about a minute to remove a good amount of wood. Then I fine tuned with files and sandpaper.

My first move was to hold the chisel along the edge of the nut shelf and give it a couple of taps, that way when I came at it towards the fretboard, when the wood started to lift it would easily break at the fretboard and prevent any lifting of the fretboard itself.

If that makes any sense

Yeah absolutely, that's exactly how I'd approach it too.

Also, FWIW, this is the original nut that came stock with the guitar (the guitar currently has an OFR on it, but this model came stock with an FR Special which, for all intents and purposes, is a Floyd Rose product, albeit a cheaper one made in another country)
Been emailing Floyd Rose back and forth today.

Turns out the FR Special nuts are indeed shorter than OFR ones, and they are ordering me the correct part :yesway: So no need to hack away just yet...
Well which one are you getting the German or the Korean made part?
Somehow I'm confused as to which one is goin on the guitar...
The guitar comes stock with Floyd Rose Special (Korean)
The previous owner replaced the trem with a Original Floyd Rose, but kept the FR Special nut (as it's the only one that fits the route). I'm simply wanting to replace that with another one of the exact same type (Korean) so I don't have to chisel/file.
Ok I get it now.
Are the Korean and German nuts not the same height?

I know I had to chisel to get the Korean made nut go on my ltd which had the stock fake floyd nut on there
I assumed they were the same dimensions exactly.
You'd think so, but according to this experience and the folks at Floyd Rose, they're shorter for some bizarre reason
