Revisiting: A Bridge for my Hamer Diablo

Non-USA.

I dropped the Hamer off today at my local guy who works wonders, and he's going to gut the fucker and sprinkle some awesome on it. Here's the picture from the eBay auction. I never did take pics of it, and I only mention it because I don't want you guys to think that I would own a blanket that ugly.

Here's the original thread where I grabbed it off of the 'bay for dirt cheap:

As far as I can tell, an Edge will NOT fit in this, right? I mean, it may fit, but with a huge gap?

An OFR, however, will basically match the shitbox bridge that's in there, correct? I need to get him a bridge for it ASAP, but I want to make sure that what I drop off will actually fit.

This OFR:

Original Floyd Rose Tremolo, Black

Is $180. That should fit, and is a reasonable price, yes? I don't want to sink a ton into this because it's not something I plan to really play that often, but it does need new pickups as well. I'd rather not spend more than I paid for it to make it not suck.

The OFR should fit fine, yes. The Edge is bigger than a OFR/TRS and probably wouldn't fit without some routing. Don't forget to get some bridge shims, that neck is probably not a 10" radius like a stock floyd.

I'd recommend a Gotoh, but you can't get them in black without paying almost as much as you are for that OFR. Once the sellers realized Gotoh was switching finishes, they jacked the prices. :( The Black Nickel(Ibanez's Cosmo Black), Chrome, and even gold Gotohs are under $140.

I'm fine with cosmo. :yesway: Thanks chief!

I spoke too soon, that place is out of stock. :( So used to them having stuff I didn't even look. The Ebay morons are out of their minds on pricing.
No worries. It looks like the Hamer's route is huge - I wish I looked at it before dropping it off, I wonder if the edge will fit.
I can measure an Edge with a caliper if you want? I actually have 3 sitting here about to list for sale(1 chrome almost mint, 1 black in ex+, and 1 black in 'good', all 3 have schaller bars though).
I have an Edge sitting next to me, I just don't know what size the route is in the Hamer.

The guy I bring my stuff to for shit like this actually makes a living rebuilding crazy old Martins and Gibsons. I'm half tempted to just tell him to go to town and have the Edge put in there.
I know what size that route is... Halo-sized  that route is absurd.

Cool. I have to put a thread together about why I have 3 Edges laying around sometime this week..

I say go for it, that rout is huge.
Well I did just list this on ebay Jackson Charvel Schaller Jt-590 Floyd Rose Tremolo - eBay (item 280654403113 end time Apr-10-11 18:24:06 PDT). That bridge was on a Jackson AT for ~20 years, tons of awesome players have sweated on it, including me and jacksonplayer on here. If you want some more of my right hand sweat I can put it back on for a day or two, but thats a $40 surcharge.

In all seriousness though, the schaller jt-590 type trems are good too. Some say as good as a floyd, but I think marginally under (if properly maintained) is a more accurate assessment. Sherman still has a few Hamer badged ones (silver chrome) that are NOS, hit that up Chris.
I'll trade you an Edge for that Schaller!

^ do it: If these are the made in germany (which I think they are) ones and they are new they will be as good as an OFR. I know that ad is old, but sherman mentioned to me that he still has them in chat a couple months ago. The locking bolts will be a bit shorter, and there is a slight difference in saddle placement, but unless you are running extremely heavy gauge strings it won't be a problem.
BTW, if the dinky reverse you just snagged off ebay is pre 93 it will have a trem identical to the ones Sherman has.
Slow site quad-post is how I increase our overall posting stats. :yesway:

It is and it does. You can see it in the auction pics.
Alright, discounting the 'Shermoption for now.

Floyd Rose Special - Black Nickel - FEATURED PRODUCTS by GPDUSA.COM

Zinc alloy, and $85. That should fit, and since I intend to block it, it should be fine for all extents and purposes, ya?

If you're blocking it, yeah. That's basically an Edge in FR form - same construction.
WIN
Schaller FRs kick ass. Got them on my two main trem guitars.
