So, before the MTM goes to its new owner, and I buy myself some monitors, I thought I'd try and do a quick comparison clip. A few things to bear in mind;

  • I'm hungover
  • One of the guitars wasn't intonated, as I had to match it to the other, so it's out of tune
  • They're unmixed, so you hear the guitar exactly as it is
  • I'm hungover
  • I suck at mic placement
  • I have very little in the way of isolation
  • I'm hungover

This is my Blackstar S1-100.
Bass - 10:30
Middle - 2:00
Treble - 11:30
Resonance - 10:30
Presence - 2:00
Channel and Master volume - 9:00
ISF - 3:00 (British side)
Power - Scaled to 10w
Gain - 1:00

Each guitar was double tracked, hard left and right. One guitar, then the next, then back to the first. Zilla Fatboy, SM57 off axis, off centre. Dunno which speaker it was, it was either a Legend V128 or a Swamp Thang. As I said, there's no mixing other than some retarded drum levelling thanks to the fucking humanize shit I keep forgetting to turn off.

Which do you prefer? And which do you think is which?

funny you had the same guitars as me!

sounds great btw! is that your song? I might have to steal all your riffs.
Yeah, it's one of my bands songs. It was simple but effective, just like the first song we tracked  All my riffs are belong to me :squint:
