Yeah, I came.

RIGGED: NILE'S KARL SANDERS | MetalSucks

this is interesting :)
Like all my guitars, the volume and tone knobs are bypassed yielding a much hotter and less cloudy tone. These 79 series V's are war-horses; I take them on tour all over the planet. On the new record I used this guitar for many of the rhythm tracks.

interesting idea here as well:
05. Dean 79 "Nileville" V: You have heard this specialty axe on many older Nile songs but you might not be able to pinpoint it because it's mixed very subtley. The guitar is in what I call "Nileville" tuning, because it is an octave higher than our normal tuning of Drop A. The guitar is set up in the same exact way my other guitars are (scalloped neck, brass nut , Seymour Duncan pickup straight-wired to jack) but I use it to make an EXACT one octave up unison layer of certain riffs. It's mixed/blended with the normal guitars in such a way that you cant really necessarily hear the insidious evil higher octave consciously, but it lends melodic definition to the ultra-low drop tuning of our normal guitars. I got the idea years ago watching and listening to Bob Vigna of Immolation and his incredible octave guitar work.
and just a few of the many more in the link...

:yum:

^ used on the last album

30. My practice area downstairs: For when the family is asleep and I shouldn't crank the Splawn/Marshall upstairs but still need to get those late night guitar hours in. Marshall Class 5 combo, Dean Black Gold ML, Black Star pedal (for when I occasionally need a bit of gain), metronome, Sebek Statue and Sarcophagus.
a friggen sarcophagus in his practice room

I'll take the Godin A-11 and the saz, please.
Fucking love nile, but I find it odd that karl and dallas go to such lengths for clarity and definition as wiring straight to jack in unfinished maple through neck guitars when they're using a mushy pickup into mushy amps.

Ho hum. Question their gear choices....wish I could play as well as them.

I was wondering WTF he was talking about when talking about clarity

Hey now imagine if they didn't go to those lengths what their tone would be...

would like to try an invader myself :)

Naw but I love the tone even though their stuff can't get pretty muddy, especially the old stuff. But it indeed sounds like it came out of a smelly cursed crypt of the ancient dead :mk:
Anyone who has met them can attest that Karl and Dallas are two of the nicest dudes in Death Metal.

They fucking destroy live too.

Hearing the "There is no god" part from 4 feet away from Karl on the most recent BDM tour was some of the sickest, heaviest shit I have ever heard. It was one of those moments that is so fucking amazing live that listening to the record will NEVER be able to compare. Which is a shame in some ways, but I'm not saying the record isn't amazing. The only thing that could have made it better was if they played "4th Arra".

Also, Annhilation of the Wicked has awesome tone. Definitely my favorite Nile album tonewise.
when I saw Nile they were touring on that album and played the 4th arra of dagon. I was in the pit during that song, with a cast on my arm and I didn't give a fuck. the end chant was so epic and I ended up spraining my left wrist but it was worth LOL, :flex: so heavy.

ARRA ARRA ARRA

DAGON DAGON DAGON

Nile will always have a special place in my heart. Yeah, sometimes their shit is hilariously over the top, but they (along with Opeth/Bloodbath/CC) were the first DM band I got into at a time when I was one of the power/traditional metal douches that swore he would never like DM vocals.

They were doing some weird shit on that BDM tour setlist wise, leaving out a lot of standards they have played forever. But hey, when you get ithy-fucking-phallic live...you don't complain.
I haven't had great results with the Invader but from Merrow's clip (11:49):

There are much mushier pickups than that.
I  Nile.

The tone on their albums differs from album to album and song to song, but the tone on songs like this one CRUSHES!

I'm glad I'm not the only one with love for AOTW. Most people I've asked seemed to prefer In Their Darkened Shrines.
Nile have one of the most brutal guitar sounds in existence, Last time I saw them they were using 6505s and still sounded like Nile... AOTW is in my top 10 DM albums for sure.
Man, Karl sure has changed. I used to lurk on the Nile forums, and he used to hate seven strings and swear by Marshall JCMs. Killer live band too.
