Rocksmith troubles

So yeah this seems sorta lame but I picked up Rocksmith as a new way to try to learn some things cuz the goings been painfully slow. I've been playing it to learn The Trooper. It seems like no matter what I do the guitar work sounds off even though it reads the notes. Could it be that my pickups arent suited or the "ingame amp" needs to be adjusted or something?

Are you having latency issues? That's something you always have to watch out for with Rocksmith.
naw its right on target it just doesnt sound right. Idk its like I play some notes and it doesnt quiet get that "Maiden" sound (thats the best i can describe it) at all

Im not sure how realistic it is to expect to sound like maiden, especially if you're not playing an HSS strat
LOL not expecting to sound to much like them but it sounds notably off and Maidens my chief interest song wise and playing wise.

What guitar are you using

Your emg's wont sound like maiden. You said you wanted to learn the songs, so i'd focus on learning them and not if your tone matches :yesway:.

There's more to playing than just getting the notes right. There's pick attack, phrasing, dynamics, vibrato, etc. but it's a good start to learn the notes.
Awesome \m/ So if I wanted to match the tone better I should get an HSS guitar? or could I get it through a decent amp?

I'd start with taking some lessons to get a good understanding of the basics, worry about gear after.
Yeah, don't worry if the tone isn't quite right yet (though a better practice amp will help). The in-game amp sounds aren't going to be great.
What do you mean "notably off"? Just the tone? Or something else?
It's hard to explain but I've been listening to The Trooper pretty much everyday for the last 3 years, yet I cant exactly define whats going on with it. I can just tell that its pretty off.

Lessons are for pussies  Dimebag, Zakk W, Joe Satriani, SRV, EVH None of those guys took lessons and look how they turned out :)

I haven't taken lessons either, and that's primarily the reason I am stuck playing rhythm guitar and power chords. But I am personally fine with that. My fingers don't like individual notes

Rocksmith can be a fucker about lag on consoles too. 2014 version has a nice foldout on correct ways to connect audio to minimize this. Audio over HDMI is slow.
Yeah, but is it your playing or is it the game?
