Excuse the flubs, lack of mixing, etc etc

Part of the solo album I've been working on for years which I should probably name "Drew". I've got a ton of little 4 minute ideas that I'm reluctant to add more to as I want to put lyrics down first and write around them rather than hope I can make something decent to fit if that makes sense. Also supposed to be one of those albums that's more like one long ass song divided into pieces, so therein lies another challenge for my crippling perfectionism.

Composition's a bit caddy-wompus and there are all sorts of missing parts my no-not-good-enough disposition won't allow me to put on here, but here ya go.

KFBM was brain diarrhea. Or lack-of-brain diarrhea for that matter.

edit: Am I the only one who thinks the auto tags are hilarious?

But....that is kind of how you write anyway. You spout out a jumble of random shit and put it together later and tweak it to make it work. Do the same thing, but with words and concepts.

Sound is pure form via vibrations in air with no connotation preconceived meaning and are not subject to the prejudice of one's experiences. Words, however, have all these weaknesses. I.E. something complex like "love" or "hate" will have different strengths and definitions to different ears. Even something as simple as "computer" means one thing to a guy who uses it to watch porn and another to an IT guy.

This is why songs are always up to interpretation. You may know what you mean, but the listener is tasked to figure it out. This is why so many musicians write strange and vague lyrics. It makes sense to them. It's your own little inside joke that the listener has to try to understand.

The issue isn't whether the listener can figure it out or not as it's no concern of mine. The problem is I myself don't like what's on the paper due to my own opinion of the words' sound and connotation.

Ass-kickery. :yesway: Great stuff man, gorgeous song.

Are those all synths? They sound fantastic!
Sorry kinda drowned out your question with rantings with words about words. Apologies and thanks for the compliment. :yesway:

Synths? No actual synthy type synths there, though it might not be a bad idea to add them. There's a piano, 50 piece orchestra patch, a violin, and a cello from EastWest Symphonic Orchestra. The trick to getting them to sound "correct" is playing with velocities and dynamics. The drums are the NY avatar kit from Superior Drummer. The rest is the 7620 through the Axe running dry with delays in Cubase.

That was badass. I've still got some of the old Atromorta shit in my iTunes playlist, too...you've always made badass music :yesway:
 Man... That project is three albums worth of stuff that should be called "Drew"

Here's some 10 year old nostalgia for ya:

If you want me to start another thread, I will.. But how is the actual composition processes with EW orchestra? I LOVE that sound man, but I've no fucking clue how to compose for instruments like that.

Check out 'Ad A Dglgmut' off The Silent Circus by BTBAM. It's a song written entirely around what you describe - people connecting to nonsense lyrics and implying a meaning.
