Heading out on vacation to SF next week and have been trying to research places that I could visit with some sort of thrash heritage :yesway:

Anyone have any suggestions?

I hit a place called Biscuits And Blues while I was in SF a couple years ago, but, as the name implies, it's mostly a blues joint :yesway:

yeah got that planned in. Unfortunately cant do alcatraz due to it being booked out. There are plenty of bars I want to go to in Mission District but I'm trying to find out with some cool metal heritage or just somewhere that will play some good music to annoy my wife and friends

Eh, I lived in the San Francisco area for over 4 years (and worked in San Francisco for a little under 2 years), but I never went to a metal bar or even heard about any of them. I know there are clubs where metal bands play there, but I don't know about any metal bars. :/

I could recommend some nice craft breweries in the area, though (both in San Francisco and in the area), but don't know of any metal bars. Also, if you're going to San Diego after San Francisco, there are a ton of awesome breweries there too. Just don't know any metal bars.

Hit up Rasputin's over by (or might be on) Powell St, then go spend the night at the Crazy Horse, and recoop the next day with some pizza from Blondie's

Are you going to be going to San Francisco, San Diego, or visiting both? Because those places are a good drive apart from one another!

Only thrash heritage San Diego had that i can remember was a band called Psychotic Waltz. Most of the clubs that catered to metal bands have closed down long ago such as the Bacchanal.

recommend those breweries then!
San Francisco area:
Russian River - https://russianriverbrewing.com/ (about 1 and a half hours north of San Francisco, but well worth the trip)
21st Amendment Brewery - Home » 21st Amendment Brewery (in San Francisco)
Speakeasy Ales and Lagers - Speakeasy Ales & Lagers (in San Francisco)
Anchor Brewing - https://www.anchorbrewing.com/ (in San Francisco - possibly the oldest brewery in SF)
The Rare Barrel - https://www.therarebarrel.com/ (in Berkeley - great sour beer/wild beer brewery)
...There are a ton more, but I think I'll leave it at that for now.

San Diego:
Stone Brewing - https://www.stonebrewing.com/ (the brewery and main taphouse/restaurant itself is in Escondido, but they also have a taphouse/restaurant in downtown San Diego)
Ballast Point - https://www.ballastpoint.com/ (originally a homebrewing shop, but now one of the most respected San Diego breweries)
Pizza Port - http://pizzaport.com/ (a San Diego area brewpub that specializes in pizza, but makes really good beer too)
..and there are way more, but that's it for now.
