I think the point is to prevent the onslaught of "do-overs" that would come once they set the precedent. I was watching a game last night and the announcers debated it for about 2 innings.
I agree somewhat that it shouldnt be reversed, thats a slippery slope. The human element if a huge part of the game, creates controversy, spurs debates, water cooler talk, etc. Imagine how boring sports talk radio would be without bitching about bad calls?

The other part feels bad for the kid that got robbed of the perfect game though.
It was awesome to see the ump step up though. Kudos to him for sure.
