My song this week is inspired by Van Halen so I kinda got to thinking about putting in a gong hit at one point in the song. Well, I've done it- and frankly I can't stop laughing at it. I mean, I don't want to diminish the rest of the song which I'm real proud of but what say you, MG?

Uh, isn't the answer obvious? Why wouldn't you add a gong?
Haha, I dunno- kind of feels like a Spinal Tap move but the opinions are strongly in favor of it. The gong is part of the Classic Rock Expansion Pack (this is the Eddie Kramer Expansion product) and part of the Amber kit. It gets really close to the Alex Van Halen kit sound from the Fair Warning era. I only had to tweak the snare's pitch up a little bit to get a close match. The hi hats can't get close, though. That may be a selling point for the Superior Drummer Expansion pack over just EZ Drummer.

I did pitch up the gong since I felt it was a little too low in terms of its note so that makes it a little funky but- gong.
