So I've ruined another DM2... Delay Pedal Recommendations

:(

That's the second DM2 that I've ruined, which sucks considering how cool they sound. And since the last pedal was beyond repair (analog circuitry: once they're fried, that's it) looks like same with this.

So I'm in the hunt for a possible replacement and no I'm not even bothering on another old DM2. More along the lines of a small compact warm delay than can self oscillate. The possibilities so far:

Boss DM2 Waza

The most logical choice, perfect timing really. Basically exactly the same but it can withstand my idiocy.

MXR Carbon Copy

The other most logical choice. With more options than the DM2 and also idiot proof.

(Another) Vox Time Machine

Similar to the Carbon Copy but bigger.

Strymon El Capistan

Well, since I recently bought a Big Sky... just because. That's why. :crooks:

Bring 'em on.

I've been thinking about getting one of these instead of a carbon copy.
Damn :( How did it get ruined?

Good options so far recommended. I would recommend to check out Catlinbread's tape delays that can self-oscillate as well (Belle Epoch and EchoRec). The Belle Epoch is my favorite sounding delay I've ever heard. The new Moog MF Analog Delay sounds phenomenal and is well priced as well.

If you decide to go bigger and want something wacky go check out the Way Huge Supa-Puss.

I love my Carbon Copy, but now I want to check out those tape delays Lopez mentioned

The Belle Epoch is an Echoplex in a box and I love the repeats that come from tape delays in general but the voicing on it seems to be my favorite. It even comes with the ability to turn on a preamp setup to mimic the preamp on an Echoplex.

The EchoRec is based off of the Binson Echorec which allows for creative rhythmic patterns with the 12 modes knob.
If you have a BigSky, clearly you need a TimeLine.
What do you guys mean by self-oscillate? Like, the delay time varies slightly as you play?

self oscillation is when the device creates its own sound.

I've got a Carbon Copy, and I'm kinda looking for something else. The controls have no subtlety to them whatsoever, so a quarter spin puts you into a swamp. It does fat and warm really well, but I live in the absolute bottom fourth of each knob.

That was my first delay, as everyone uses it and it was recommended to me. It was so... Bland, idk, it just did nothing for me.
I'd look into a TC X4, I loved that pedal, which also gives you a loop function and tone print, or the Earthquaker stuff.
Man, it's been a really long time since pedals got my GAS going, but just about everything I hear from EQD has me drooling and fighting my hands from reaching into my wallet.
I DO love my TC Electronics Flashback. Not at all what the OP is looking for, but it has a great analog model. And the looper is just fun.
Yup, the TC doesn't do that, but the Line6 DL4 does.

That's just a little too "Muse-ish" to for me.

None of the Flashback's stock selections self-oscillate, but two of the toneprints do, IIRC. I didn't care for either of them though.

Using the editor they finally released, I believe you can make your own toneprint self oscillate by jacking up the regen past 100%. I think that's the parameter anyway.
The Mooer AnaEcho is a DM2 clone. Not sure if you can still get them as cheap as they used to be.
