Player gets 27-game ban for choking ref - News - FOX Sports on MSN

Paraguay soccer player Jose Pedroso received a 27-game ban for attempting to choke a referee during a Chilean second-division match.

The governing body of Chile's professional league handed down the penalty on Tuesday. It said the Rangers defender was banned 20 games for attempting to choke referee Marcelo Miranda, five for a second attempt and two for the red card Pedroso received that ignited the outburst.

This is absurd! Somebody must have been too hopped up on the steroids. :noplease:

I was just making a joke about steroids. Could have just as easily inserted booze, drugs, emo music, or anything else, because, that is just how jokes work.

My brother is on steroids, and I am so glad he is. It suppresses his immune system and alleviates his multiple sclerosis attacks. If he didn't get on them, he could be blind and crippled in less than a year.

I thought testosterone based drugs were human growth hormone (HGH), not steroids, but maybe I am mis-informed or splitting hairs.

The title steroid is used to describe an organic compound with a specific arrangement of 17 carbon atoms into four rings joined to each other. There is a cyclopentane ring, and 3 cyclohexane rings. Testosterone fits the description, and is therefore a steroid.
