I think June 2011 is the final shuttle mission and then after that the US has no ability to put their own astronauts in space for the foreseeable future. It seems silly that we'll fork out millions of dollars to get a seat on a Russian rocket but NASA can't build a capsule and a rocket to get us in low Earth orbit with their yearly budget. And I can't understand how it should take so long to design something like this. It's not like they need to reinvent the wheel. They had a pretty solid system in the 60's with the Apollo program that can be used as a starting point.Very cool pictures, but it's sad to see Discovery grounded. How long has the shuttle program got left to run?
