Holy shit... I just finished this game and that's all I can say about it.

There's something completely satisfying about some of the close-quarters attacks. I still smile every time I elbow an unsuspecting enemy in the face, shoot him in the knee and plant one between his eyes as he's falling to the ground.

The interactive interrogation scenes were awesome as well... I liked it better than just having regular cut scenes--keeps you involved in the story a bit more.

Being able to upgrade your weapons a bit was a nice touch too. The ability to mark and execute was also very cool and made everything feel much more spy like. I found myself spending a long time setting up something that would take only a few seconds but be completely badass.

Honestly, I think the series has been going downhill since the second game. In the first game you really had to know what you were doing and not use your bullets very often, as well as hide bodies. Now you can just mark and execute :noway: Splintercell might as well be a full blown action game now; its become too different from what it was.

I think it lost it at Double Agent, at least it did for me. The first one was really good and totally different, and the second one followed in the same vein with some new shit. I enjoyed Chaos Theory cause the story seemed to be the coolest of them all, and it looked good/was good at the time. Then Double Agent came out and things changed drastically for some unknown reason. There was another one after that I believe but my mind can't think of it probably cause it sucked.

I'll probably rent this and see how it is since I still love Sam/Michael Ironside's voice acting

^ Hit the head on the nail, I was like, "WTF a fucking shotgun" when Chaos Theory came out. The game just lost that stupid difficultly factor :(
I used the little rubber bullet/non-lethal rounds a lot more than I did actual bullets. I don't recall using the shotgun that often.

If anything I tried to not even use the gun a lot because it's a STEALTH game so I figured, "Why use a gun when I've got a knife and X amount of ways to hide and kill people?"

I felt like this game still required a great deal of stealth despite having the guns and ammunition to support a full on assault. It's a hell of a lot easier if you use stealth and surprise. It gives a bit more freedom to play the game in a way that you want to.

The mark and execute thing was a nice touch, but you could only use it once before the game made you do a hand-to-hand kill so you could use it again. I still found myself lining up shots with the pistol so that I could take out two guys very rapidly without marking and executing them.

Everything Buzz said is spot on and this game fucking wrecks face :yesway: Stealth attacks are the shit and marking and executing dudes is the fucking tits. Seeing as one dude watches his buddy go down, all "OH SHIT!" then watch the bullet go right through his fucking head too - priceless. I've been using the pistol 99% of the time, and the only thing I really miss from the old games is the built in EMP shit so instead of shooting out lights - you could disable them, kill whoever is around, and keep going without it looking like anything happened (aside from the obvious dead body underneath them).

Setting traps with remote mines and sticky cams is also sweet, and in this one they also give you what's called P.E.C. Challenges which are things like, "Kill an enemy who's investigating your last known position from 10 meters away" and shit. Completing those challenges are what give you points to upgrade weapons/gadgets.

I think you'll enjoy it, it's seriously fucking awesome. Plus, if you didn't know - the Sgt. from Starship Troopers is the voice of Sam :yesway:

I don't know quite why this has upset me so much but I feel I must point out that the voice of Sam Fisher is Michael Ironside. Michael fucking Ironside. As in Michael Ironside of Scanners, Top Gun and Total Recall.

It seems so sad that you remember him purely from Starship Troopers. :(

And yes I know, I can be a complete asshat.

Never seen Scanners, fuck Top Gun and I haven't seen Total Recall in AGES  Plus, I watched ST like ...2 weeks ago? It was on TBS or some shit and if that isn't the definition of a Saturday-movie, I don't know what is.

Plus, Dina Meyer :yum:
