Well, they did do a good job of making everything about the guitars as identical as possible, even down to the construction and winding of the pickups. The silver wire and cryogenic treatment definitely seems to make a difference... there's no disputing the evidence. Dunno whether i'd be willing to pay for that difference, though.

Unless those Strats were made from the same chunk of maple, rosewood and alder, it's really hard to say they're 'similar'... If they had done the demonstration then pulled the original pickup and wired in a Zephyr, it'd be a much better comparison.
I would be interested in how some of the thinking they do with the Zephyr might change the tone of a "normal" pickup. Things like the different bobbins, pole pieces and such might be pretty cool in a regular pickup.
