Tarting up the BSB :D

So, my Jem BSB started out like this:

and has been played for a few years, and 2 or 3 years ago I decided to take a blowtorch to it, and did this to it:

now, the back of the neck has always been worn since a few months after i got it, and the colour was a bit non commital and faded, so to today, i just decided it was time to remedy it, and ended up doing this to it:

So yes, staining is fun! It goes everywhere if you're a bit of a chaos factory like myself at times, but, the result is very cool, and even if it is a bit greener than I intended, I actually vastly prefer it, it just seems way way more alive than it did before :)

THis bodes well for any future evil plans!

Suffice to say, I am well happy with the result of 10 minutes work with a foam brush!

For ten minutes of work that looks 100 times better :yesway:
It's actuially more vibrant in real life than the pictures. I may also attempt to burn it a bit more in places where the burns look a bit amateurish on the front, but overall it's like having a new guitar almost, very cool :)

Although I just know my hands are going to go green when i play it, just like it looked like i'd been innapropriately touching a smurf when i bought it home from the shop many moons ago!
Nothing like a second round of the feel of smurf perversion :jj:
:wag: Do Want

That is just awesome looking.
I've always had a soft spot for those BSB's. Look 100% better, nice job. :metal:

Oh, and if you ever want to part with it, I call first dibs. :D
I dig it man, that is both unique and cool.

You get the C. Montgomery Burns Award of Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence.
i really like the way the back of the neck looks :yesway: and the treadplate hehe
Very cool dude :yesway:

Where'd you get the backplate from?
before or after... looks killer either way! :metal:

Plays killer too. A lot of Nymphetamine was recorded with this guitar.

< i am liking it more an more, i do get the feeling these guitars suit being burnt and stained more, as well as played, they just end up with a lot of character, but instead of the nicks and dents looking ugly they really do add to the vibe of the guitar :)

You're telling me :D

 I tried selling it years ago, only one guy came to try it out, but I'd screwed up the wiring and he said he didn't want it, currently, wiring works fine, but it has totally different pickups, and a phase reverse switch :D

Maybe one day, but I am digging it more than i have done in a while now!

Next is to get the last 4 frets scalloped :D

To have won such a long named award is both a pleasure and the fulfillment of a life's ambition :D

Definitely made it look nicer. :metal:

I've done some more reshaping on the burns on the back of the neck. Blowtorching is so much fun that I may just have to hide it away. So much use out of a kitchen gadget meant to make creme brulee

Very cool dude :yesway:

Ebay :D Came as a set, pickguard, backplates. SOld the pickguard to my mate sam who put it on his DBK jem.

Care to share the details of that phase reverse switch?

Mmm, that would look very nice on Sam's DBK.
nice work!

Is easy, it's just the hot and ground of the neck pickup reversed via push pull for the neck pickup in humbucking only

dimarzio wiring inlay tells you how to do it, is easy, only affect when the neck is used with another pickup really, petrucci style!
