The new Prestige RG3750 Mahogany w/Flamed Maple Top... Why?

5338 Views 35 Replies 20 Participants Last post by  Divebombs
Why did they put such a boring neck on this one?????????????? The other RG3570s had the sharktooth-outline inlays and even white binding around the fretboard.

It's near perfect for me, spec-wise; plus it's got white binding AND black&white pickguard AND a conservatively colored maple top...

... but the fretboard is a plain regular rosewood, dot inlays and no binding.

Edit: I already have an RG550 on the way, with dot inlays, but I would still buy this one. It's hot.

So because it's not perfect for you, it's pointless? Thing looks awesome.
I think it looks pretty balanced?

Yeah, that's MY logic, nobody else can use it.

Can't be my thread, it doesn't bitch about the Edge Zero bridge without even have tried one in my entire life. Ibanez needs a original EDGE. Which I either never I have tried in my entire life.

Sorry to steal your logic Rocka, but I'm obviously biased since I've used every decent type of Edge trems, so you win at it

GUYS, LET ME HAVE MY OVER-THE-TOP RIDICULOUS IBANEZ. The replies here prove that there is a conspiracy against my ideal of white binding everywhere and flashy inlays on a dark coloured body... And don't get me started on non-reverse headstocks.

PS.: I would still buy that thing...
I kinda associate the Sharkteeth with 80's shred guitars, they look wrong on figured wood. Now, if it had flame maple neck binding, some oval abalone inlays, and an Original Edge, it would be sexy.
I don't know. There's a certain elegance to it.

I like it.
Time to go USACG/Warmoth :mk:
Great looking guitar, but I'm so bloody sick of cheap rosewood on RGs. Why not ebony?

It's like, how much blacker could this be? And the answer is none - none more black.
Everyone always complains about Ibanez using rosewood. How come no one ever complains about PRS using rosewood on all their guitars?
^ All of the above, I agree.

Either way, Ibanez pisses me off so much but I'll still play them (and only buy them used)
Dots are the better choice for Ibanez, Leave the shark fins to Jackson. They do it best anyway.:yesway:
I'd prefer maple personally, but sharktooths would look out of place, IMO.

As it is, it's basically a black 550, but with a mahogany body and a subtle flame to the top. It's actually kind of awesomely understated, and kind of elegant for that; it pays respects to it's stripped down shred roots, while not being all that stripped down, at a second glance. :yesway:

With ridicolous, do you mean the flower-inlays like Vai?

If so, buy two guitars: this one, and one with flower. Swap necks. Done! :flex:

Great idea!!

...but I think you overestimated the ridiculousness I'm after
