I understand the influence of Storm of the Light's Bane, but I just can't get into it, because of Jon Nödtveidt. I just can't support a band fronted by a murderer.
Thats I can understand. I didnt know anything about them until long after and by the time I discovered them he was already dead.I understand the influence of Storm of the Light's Bane, but I just can't get into it, because of Jon Nödtveidt. I just can't support a band fronted by a murderer.
What Crooks said, you gotta put someone's actions as a human before their musical output.I understand the influence of Storm of the Light's Bane, but I just can't get into it, because of Jon Nödtveidt. I just can't support a band fronted by a murderer.
It was a few years before i knew that he murdered someone, and by then all 4 songs i listed have been permanently embedded in my memory. I probably wouldnt have listened to them knowing that, but its conflicting knowing that theres a shit ton of music we all listened to that someone who worked on it was a POS.What Crooks said, you gotta put someone's actions as a human before their musical output.
And one generic black metal piece of shit doesn't absolve him from being absolute filth.
Dude if you like it, don't let these guys make you feel guilty. It was a few years before i knew that he murdered someone, and by then all 4 songs i listed have been permanently embedded in my memory. Exactly. I bet a lot of people around here still like Motely Crue. Yes I know the situations are totally different but even Vince Neil admits to killing someone.Dude if you like it, don't let these guys make you feel guilty.
You didn't kill anyone.
I dig it. I could give a fuck what kind of person the guy was or what anyone here thinks about him either.
I'm not suggesting anyone should feel guilty about liking it, I just can't separate Jon from the music, so I can't get in to it.Dude if you like it, don't let these guys make you feel guilty.

There's a huge difference between killing someone who willingly got in your car in a drunk driving accident, and shooting someone point blank in the back because they're gay.Exactly. Sir, as a heads up...you quoted me admitting the situations are totally different.I'm not suggesting anyone should feel guilty about liking it, I just can't separate Jon from the music, so I can't get in to it.

fuck the whole michael jackson thing. Phil Spector killed someone brutally. Not cuz they were gay or any other random reason. He's gonna die in prison.Sir, as a heads up...you quoted me admitting the situations are totally different.
However, someone mentioned Phil Specter earlier. That man changed music for all genras and effected everyone on this forum and then some. He was convicted of shooting someone. That doesn't negate the work he accomplished and I am sure engineers wont stop using the "wall of sound" technique because he killed someone (supposedly)
Michael Jackson was a genius as a song writer and a performer. Many people believe he touched little kids. I honestly dont know what to believe but even if it was proven he did, that doesn't mean the guy doesn't deserve credit for the art he has created. Its just something to think about. Yes Jon was a complete and utter douche bag and what he did was totally wrong. However, his music is amazing and I wont stop listening to it, or praise it for that matter, because he did something utterly dumb. Remember, this is a man who killed himself in a satanic sacrifice because he felt he "accomplished everything he could in life".
I was agreeing with you, and expanding upon what you said.Sir, as a heads up...you quoted me admitting the situations are totally different.
I'm not suggesting you, or anyone else, for that matter should stop listening or enjoying his music. I was just saying, for me, I can't get passed that he shot a man in the back and killed him because that man was homosexual. However, someone mentioned Phil Specter earlier. I bet to differ and yes, I know I am in the minority on this one. I remember before this album came out, there was some EP floating around (I think Starless Aeon ep or something) and all the uber elites (i also put myself in that category at the time) were trashing it but I didnt go through the trouble to listen to it. My friend ran an online webzine at the time and had an in at the end records and he got Reinkaos as a free early release promo. We put it in and we are listening and after seeing all the criticism on the interwebz, I turned to him and say "You know what, this is pretty awesome". We both agreed and he was even more l33t than I was at the time. I know it was drastically different from first 2 albums but good songwriting is good songwriting and there is plenty to be had on Reinkaos.even though Reinkaos is a shit record.
