I guess BC Rich has their own kind of custom shop. This Warlock is amazing! Zack Khoury posted it on his Instagram.
That's not their Custom Shop. They have a custom shop, but that's a couple year old import. It's a $700 guitar. They are pretty nice. BC Rich's imports have been pretty good for a while now.

Surprisingly he doesn't claim it's Custom Shop in the post, he gives the model name. He should be claiming he has a picture of SRV playing it.

He's an infamous gear flipper, who's known for totally unverifiable claims about stuff he sells driving up the prices, and also known for other questionable sale tactics (like listing guitars he hasn't even received yet) and general shadiness. In the last few years he's gotten gigs managing PR for some trendy companies like Kiesel and Fortin by leveraging the same hype he used to gouge his own buyers.
He doesn't really gouge buyers, "gouging" implies it's something people need and they have no way out, it's firmly in the territory of Caveat Emptor/"Insert P.T. Barnum quote about how there is a sucker born every minute". I remember when he first came up on talkbass, he inherited a shit ton of stuff from his dad or something, boutique basses.

Him and mehtab are like the online gear equivalents of Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian. A "they're famous for being famous" kind of thing. They supposedly have impeccable taste, but no one can remember the justification for them having impeccable taste. "They have impeccable taste in knowing quality gear for having impeccable taste in knowing quality gear".

The real story is, years back they made some facebook page called "guitar porn" or something, which capitalized on the fact that people like sharing images of cool guitars, but don't actually go out and find them themselves, loads of people don't even know how to hotlink. Don't know if it's still active or not, not on facebook anymore. Between that and a combination of buying likes and the fact that foreign audiences where gear is scarcer are more easily impressed and the fact that English isn't their native language means they can't pick up on some subtle hints they aren't what they claim to be.translated into success. That's how a lot of businesses get to be successful. They aren't particularly talented or good at anything, but they recognize some niche easy to fill need that hasn't been met yet and do it.

They combine that with the fact that people tend to believe what they want to believe without looking too closely, so if you ply them with giving them what they want to believe and act like you are a "fine gear connoisseur" and give them a place to talk about "fine gear and luxury sundries" they will fall for it. Some people are good at exploiting that.

Amazingly, it worked. As you can see from the reaction in his instagram comments to a 5 year old Korean import B.C. Rich. And all the "god damn that's a classy warlock, how much does something like that set you back? That's like, the Suhr of Warlocks.".

The B.C. Rich post 2012 imports are legitimately nice guitars and some of the better non MIJ asian imports to come out in recent memory. I had one that ruled, an Assassin, sold it to someone on here. That's legitimate. They are nice in the same bracket as $700 Schecters.

The fact that Engage has people eating out of his hand with, "LOOK AT THAT FINISH WORK, $4k of FINISH WORK. I WOULD BRING THAT GUITAR TO MEET MY PARENTS" is hilarious.

That's from the same run as the "Black Veil Brides" pro models. They are $700-900 imports.

Just goes to show you the truth of the idea that the context in which something is presented matters. Engage presented that like it was the greatest work of art to ever be made.

This is the exact same line of guitars.
