Hi folks,

I wanted to share this cover I put together in the past few months... Liquid Tension Experiment's Acid Rain.

I recorded the whole thing (minus the improvised solos) from scratch, the bass, drums and keyboards are sequenced, the guitars is me and the Axe FX II straight into the computer (I wanted to play around with the Carvins so I put them all there :p). I wanted to make my version a bit more guitar oriented by emulating the keyboard harmonies, I also added a couple licks of my own to keep the sections nicely connected.

The whole point of this exercise was to practice everything in the production chain: from getting decent sounds to recording, mixing and mastering. As usual, constructive comments are welcome; if you enjoyed it, don't forget to Like, Subscribe, Follow, Comment, etc.

In a nutshell, I used Carvin DC800 and DC700 guitars into the Axe FX II (Mesa Rectifier based patch), into Cubase. More tech details in the YouTube video description.

Cheers \m/

I agree and I have a feeling Lee is going to like this a lot! :agreed::yesway:
I think you're the only person that can post these videos without consequence.

Great playing, man. :yesway:

Nah, if he posts a djent mixtest we're still going to shit all over it. Testament and LTE covers however get a pass, in my book. :yesway:

You ain't wrong!

Holy shit, man. That was fan-fucking-tastic. Really nice playing throughout.
Awesome, and nice Carvin collection as well :)
One of my favorite LTE songs. Nailed it. :yesway:
Monstrous playing! The mix isn't quite there yet, but that's why you need to make more awesome tracks like this for us to listen to (and, yeah, and to practice too or whatever).
awesome playing sir.

More acid rain cover goodness

I remember when my guitar teacher gave me a copy of LTE II. I thought it was insane. In fact, I thought it was so awesome I gave it to my dad to listen. I haven't seen that thing since. Moral of the story: hoard good music and don't let people touch it. Deem them cancelled if they come near.

@JamesM, what factors would you have adjusted in the mix? That's the kind of feedback I'm looking for.

Thank you and everyone else again for your feedback
