I'm 6'2", pretty pretty average all around and have a slow metabolism for someone my height. I plan on lifting weights and gaining muscle mass while slowly getting my fat down (I have a smallish gut, more like a 'pooch' if you will).

I'm changing my diet to be very protein oriented with only enough carbs to keep me from lacking energy all the time (I still eat healthy, I'm just shifting the focus). Let's say I work out every day of the week and rest on weekends, and jog every day anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes. And I spend ~1 hour lifting weights each day doing roughly 3 sets and maxing out for every muscle-group that I do on a particular day as well as core exercises like planks etc.

I basically want to maximize the muscle growth while still losing maybe 1-2 pounds of fat per week until I get to my desired amount of body fat. I don't gain muscle mass very fast, even in n00b gains. I seriously have no idea where I should place it. Obviously I'll adjust if I think I need more or less, but I don't want to lose weight to fast, but I DO want to gradually lose it.

What is a good ballpark estimate for calories per day?

Any other advice would be well appreciated.
