Well I just got my Atlas cab in the mail and I've been playing around with it. The problem is, is when the gain is engaged there is a hissing that is prevalent when I'm playing. Is this simply remedied by a noise gate, or is something wrong with the head/cab? I'm extremely new to this whole game, only having had a head for the last month and a cab for the last day! I know absolutely nothing about these sort of things so any help is greatly appreciated.

It's normal. Rock out.

How noticeable is it? You'll generally have some hissing with a high gain setup, since ANY slight noise is, well, greatly amplified. You can try a noise gate post preamp (something in your FX loop).
