What's wrong with my 2027?

I was about to put a new (non-piezo) jack in, and noticed something extremely strange. The output of my piezo is 1000% hotter than the blackouts. Here's what happens:

(There's probably a proper term for the "blend jack" but whatever)

Piezo jack + piezo: Working perfectly, piezo sounds great
Blend jack + piezo only: Working perfectly, piezo sounds great
Blend jack + switch on blend: Piezo hot has hell, blackouts are on (I can hear them if I tap the pick on them) but not doing much.
Blend black + switch to 100% blackouts: Output is crazy low.

Additionally, the bottom knob (which I believe is the tone pot for the pickups) doesn't seem to do anything at all, in any setting.

So it looks like the jack itself is fine, since it's picking up both the piezo and and the blackouts, but for some reason I have to turn my amp up a shit-ton louder to get the same volume from the blackouts, and even then the full signal is definitely not getting to my amp.

Here's a vid, I dialed in the most ridiculously high gain tone I could to give an example. When I switch from straight piezo to the blackouts, you can hear the monster difference in gain. I'm (obviously) not changing the patch. This is a new problem - it didn't do this when I got it.

I'm not sure what the failing part of the equation is. Is the bottom pot NOT the tone for the pickups? Even so, it should be doing something, and I'm assuming it has to be bad.

Is there an extra battery for the blackouts? or is it using the piezo battery? could there be a wiring issue where the piezo is getting 18 volts instead of 9?
I think you should rule out the Blackouts altogether. Put yer Blazes in and send me the Blackouts :D My guess would have been with Kev. Maybe the Piezo is wanting 18v for some obscene reason.
I never thought of the second battery - I have no idea.

The piezo sounds the same as it always did, and I'm pretty adimate about hitting the little power button when I'm not playing. If it's two separate batteries, that would explain a lot, eh? Because I definitely may have left the cable plugged in, if that keeps the BO's drawing current.

A-ha! Definitely two batteries in this beyotch.

[action=Chris]goes to try a new battery[/action]
A-ha! :woohoo:

The blackout battery is fine, but one of the leads from the 9V connector to the actual jack wiring came off. A quick resolder and I'm back in business. Thanks dude.

I'll have to take a peek at Mesh's wiring diagram. It seems like the BO's pull from the piezo battery as well, since there's some output, and perhaps they need all 18v to work wide open.

I'm going w/D-Activators.
The wire must have come off due to being shipped in a gig bag. :fawk:

:| e-gad man! You're betraying thy Blazes?! If the BO's need a home, let me know, I'll try and tap the missus up for some cash, it's my 19th on Sunday  I'll use them in a project. Regret getting rid of mine with my Dildo Mod :(
Yeah, that thing had NO shortage of output when I first set it up, I'd be shocked if it wasn't the battery.
When I had Blackouts in my Loomis they went through batteries like a lonely woman on Valentine's Day. It just fueled my hatred for them.
I already. Called dibs on the blackouts :agreed:
