It would only be worrying if it was indicative or larger systematic corruption inherent in the youtube system. Like, a malignant conspiracy to benefit pro Djent groups at the expense of Djent consumers.
I mean, this dude willingly spent $90 on a stupid plugin. Caveat emptor. He's not exactly some sort of tragic hero, maybe like, a vaguely sympathetic figure at best.
I think at this point everyone knows that Youtube is pretty trigger happy to remove videos at the behest of even spurious claims. It makes sense. Youtube's moderators aren't going to spend 2-3 hours researching djent culture and the specifics of a fringe situation to discover who's at fault. They're just going to remove it because that's the most practical course of action for an organization that size. If they were wrong, they are fine with the person who was wronged making a case, making a scene and throwing out a token apology. It's not like Youtube would even have to apologize for something so immaterial in the larger scheme of things.
To qualify as an "abuse of power", Joey Sturgis or whatever his name is would actually have to vested with more power in youtubes system. If Sony pulled some shit like that, yeah, it's an abuse of power. This is just an instance of two end users bickering and Youtube taking their standard course of action.
If I uploaded a Youtube video right now, and another end user flagged it and it got removed, it would be ridiculous to go around bitching about "abuse of power". The other dude isn't vested with more power than me, it's Youtube's policy to remove flagged videos with minimal investigation because an organization that size would have to be stupid to throw a lengthy trial for every instance. So they err on the side of caution and if they really fuck up they make the necessary apologies.
So as far as framing this as "Joey Sturgis abuses his power". That's a bit of a no sell for me. Joey Sturgis sells plugins, but unless I am seriously off, he doesn't wield enough power in the youtube system for it to classify as an egregious abuse of power. If Microsoft or someone/something of that caliber pulled something like that, yeah, abuse of power.
It's more of an instance of "Joey Sturgis is a generally unpleasant person". Which isn't really as much of a news story in all honesty. Lots of people that sell goods or services are unpleasant people.
At best it's more of a "Joey Sturgis misused Youtube's overly cautious policies on removing videos to do something shitty because Joey Sturgis is a generally unpleasant person" type situation.
