According to HTC, there's no Root Kit in the G2, as that article suggests. It's just software work done by T-Mobile. There will be a work around soon enough.

For the general user, what they did was actually a pretty good idea. It's just a 'side effect' that rooting is affected.

It'll be bypassed soon enough.
