Its the last month of the year. I don't think too many more albums are coming out in the next couple of weeks. Whats everyone's top picks so far ?

For me, 2010 was a killer year for metal. probably the best in about 5 years.

Here's my top 10:
-Atheist - Jupiter
-Triptykon - Eparistera Daimones
-Briton Rites - For Mircalla
-Overkill - Ironbound
-Agalloch - Marrow of the Spirit
-Aeon - Path of Fire
-Sodom - In War & Pieces
-Forbidden - Omega Wave
-Arsis - Starve For the Devil
-Melechesh - Epigenesis
Honorable mentions:
-The Lord Weird Slough-Feg - Animal Spirits
-Decrepit Birth - Polarity
-Fleshgod Apocalypse - Mafia (even though its only an EP...)
-Grave - Burial Ground
-Nevermore - Obsidian Conspiracy
-Hour of Penance - Paradogma
Still need to hear:
-Rotting Christ's new one
-God Dethroned - Under the Iron Cross
-Defeated Sanity - Chapters Of Repugnance
-Danzig - Deth Red Sabaoth
-Seamount - Sacrifice
-Mekong Delta's new one
-Deathspell Omega's new one
-Abney Park's new one
Fucking letdowns
-Halford - Halford IV. What a shitty followup to Crucible.
-Annihilator - S/t. Its less crappy than Metal but still not up to snuff.

I loved everything about Jupiter except the fact it needed to be, like, a half hour longer.

Albums of the year for me:

Anathema - We're Here Because We

This is just an awesome album in every way. Easily up there with "Judgement" and "A Fine Day to Exit" as Anathemas best albums.

Throes of Dawn - The Great Fleet of Echoes

A Finnish band that nobody else than me has apparently heard of (even here in Finland) :D They've released a few albums before this but this one really stands out from the rest of their production. Great songs, great production etc. If you like your music dark and depressing this is the band to listen to.

Magenta Skycode - Relief

A bit different perhaps from the others I've listed. This is some kind of prog-rock I guess, with lots of pop hooks and stuff. Great album

I would add For Aeons Past by Solution .45 to the list. Excellent album in my opinion.

I'm sure I would add a lot more, but a lot of albums I'm not sure if they were 2009 or 2010.

I loved everything about Jupiter except the fact it needed to be, like, a half hour longer.
It also needed more bass.

I didn't consume enough metal to make a proper top ten list from this year. :( But these are basically all the albums that have seen some heavy rotation in my various media players and are thus my favorites.

I'm really glad you turned me on to Briton Rites - For Mircalla. I never would have heard it otherwise.

Nevermore - The Obsidian Conspiracy.

High on Fire - Snakes for the Divine.

Mutiny Within - Mutiny Within

Periphery - Periphery

Nachtmystium - Addicts: Black Meddle, Part II

Grand Magus - Hammer of the North

Talanas - Reason & Abstract EP

While it's a live album, it is a studio release:
Opeth - In Live Concert at the Royal Albert Hall

Let me be the first to make the joke that at the top of the "Still need to hear" list is Drew Peterson's debut.

Really? The tracks i heard so far have been really, really mediocre.

I needed a few complete spins to really "grow" on me, not as much as Dance Of Death (which still hasnt grown on me really  ), but at some point i realized how i find many new details i havent noticed before with every new spin, and how my preferred tracks change with my mood and it therefor is really a record i can listen to ANY time, which makes me sure it will stand the test of time.
