I mean, it's fair. All of ESPs well-known guitars are ripoffs on some level of another brand, and they built their company by shamelessly stealing from Gibson and Jackson. We don't need to discuss the Mirage or MX any more than we already have, the EC is obviously just a Les Paul with enough differences to make it Legally Distinct Enough (though since literally every brand these days makes their own Les Paul ripoff, this one can't really be held against them), and the V is just a Double Rhoads with a couple edges tweaked. They just do it with enough flair that I'm willing to let it slide.

If I was ever to spec an ESP custom, this would be exactly it (perhaps without a pick-up ring and full thickness body). I previously loved M's as the flat top seemed slightly more 'metal' to me, but my Horizon has totally turned me round. I literally get sad when I'm doing parallel recording projects over a few days and need to keep the strings fresh for one, meaning I can't play it for the other work.

ESP seems to have been focusing more on "ESP-ifying" their copy guitars meaning they replaced the RV/SV line with the Arrow line as an example so I don't see them releasing a straight up firebird as a regular model again since they have the phoenix now instead.

But now they're making the RV/SV as the V-II, replacing the original V-II which was a really cool guitar.

I actually really dig the Phoenix. The ones I’ve played have all been heavy and sound thick as hell.
