But,
There are no Metal pickups, only Metal players.
There are no Djent pickups, only Djent noise gates.
<--- This:p

i agree, i just described the most commonly generic well known thing that suits my playstyle;)

i am into pickups that have fast attack and make the higher(or lower) mids shine that will also go well with basswood

A friend insists on EMG707's to be fair, just to add something else to the table;p

Didnt twig you were using basswood;

My experience with the PK in basswood isnt very good. It gets a bit too mushy in the lows and low mids, and its high mid attack becomes quite grating, to my ears.

The AM fairs better in basswood as its top end and mids are smoother, and low end has a more defined character.

Frankly, though I'm not a fan of them in general (I much prefer EMGs, but that gets problematic with 7s), I'd just stick blackouts in there. Antons (blankplank) RGD (which I've worked on and played lots and recorded) sounded far better to me with the blackouts than the PK.

He plays in drop A mostly - the other time I put a PK in a basswood guitar it was another RG (a 2570 iirc) in E, and it was just thin and harsh as well, imo.

Have you considered the Holy Diver? I've read good things about them with basswood... and believe Nolly and Bulb were using them while tracking the last Periphery album.

Other than that I only have experience with my friend's Aftermaths in a mahogany Les Paul :D

If you're still looking there's a good chance you'd be happy with the DiMarzio JP set (Crunchlab bridge/Liquidfire neck). Basswood guitar+Crunchlab>AxeFX is what Bulb used for the first Periphery album, and what Born of Osiris uses now :yesway:

I just wanted to say that I was just playing a guitar with a basswood body and the X2n pickup all night, and sweet fucking christ almighty, it's the most ridiculous thing ever. I mean, it's so fat, but then it has edge, and it's TIGHT! If you're not happy with those aftermaths, try an X2n, because I thought I wouldn't like them, but this thing kills.

X2N's in basswood is pretty fun. depending on the rest of the guitar and rig, it could be a bit bright but it is def :metal:
