well if they are both dimarzio then just flip the hot/ground on both pickups and keep the split wires the same which will cause the outer coil to be selected instead of the inner coil.
also make sure both pickups are installed with the lead wires coming from the pickup on the treble side.
So it seems this method only works as a split for the inner coils. Can kind of elaborate more into how to make it so the outer coils are active instead? Keep in mind that I won't be doing this with dimarzios, but with a Seymour Duncan '59 neck and '59/custom hybrid bridge set.
I assume the wiring colors will be different as well.
Great, now I need to wire my guitar again. I just wired it up neck/neck&bridge/bridge. Had I know splitting the middle position was this easy, I would have done it from the start. Split inner coils is the best clean tone ever.
