Apparently, the DiMarzio Tele 3-way is the only 3-way blade switch capable of doing this. Or you could use a 5-way and get more options.

 

That 3-way is a standard 3 way so any Fender style 3 way blade will work :yesway:

 

I found the first diagram up top, but not the bottom. Looks like ill be ordering a tele 3 way and hope for the best. Appreciate it Darren

 

After getting my JP7, I recently did this with a CRL 3 way switch in my 7321, works a treat.

Which reminds me, I must fit the spare one to the RGD sometime soon...

 

The neck and bridge split, is it the outer coils or inner coils? I'd love my middle position to be the outer coils.

 

It is inner coils depending on the physical orientation of the pickups but you can change it around by reversing the phase of the pickups.

What pickups do you have?

 

well if they are both dimarzio then just flip the hot/ground on both pickups and keep the split wires the same which will cause the outer coil to be selected instead of the inner coil.

also make sure both pickups are installed with the lead wires coming from the pickup on the treble side.

 

So it seems this method only works as a split for the inner coils. Can kind of elaborate more into how to make it so the outer coils are active instead? Keep in mind that I won't be doing this with dimarzios, but with a Seymour Duncan '59 neck and '59/custom hybrid bridge set.

I assume the wiring colors will be different as well.

 

i do this wiring on all of my client guitars - i love the middle position sound. Comes out like a position 4 on a strat.

 

Any chance you have a diagram for this with a set of Duncan's? It would be greatly appreciated.:agreed:

 

Great, now I need to wire my guitar again. I just wired it up neck/neck&bridge/bridge. Had I know splitting the middle position was this easy, I would have done it from the start. Split inner coils is the best clean tone ever.
