Every band overhypes their new members but this ranking is particularly funny to me based on how Mustaine sold Broderick when he joined the band:And here I thought Dave had stopped doing drugs:
8. Jeff Young
7. Chris Broderick
6. Mike Albert
5. Al Pitrelli
4. Chris Poland
3. Glen Drover
2. Marty Friedman
1. Kiko Loureiro
I mean, I reckon some purist/hipster/old-guy guitarists like him just because he's "the original" but stylistically, I think he's got more flavor to his playing than a bunch of other guys on that list, including Broderick who couldn't turn all of his acrobatic abilities into something memorable.I honestly don't even like the guy's playing. He's a good player, but I always felt he was just in the wrong band.
Dystopia is actually a nice Album, its Megadeth right around Rust and Countdown and I think Adler had a lot on it to be that away.Marty right on top ..followed by Kiko, even though I have'nt heard him in Megadeth ...or listened to Megadeth in a hell of a long time either (longtime Angra fan though & I've got all his solo stuff/DVD's). I
IIRC, Rafael wrote the biggest chunk of the songs in Angra. Thing is with Broderick though, I don't think we've really heard much of him as a writer, apart from Act of Defiance. Most of the time, he's there as the spotlight shredder rather than a writing partner. Does anyone remember his Industrial Eden stuff though? From a technical standpoint: Kiki can do everything Broderick can do and some. He does all the crazy tapping just like Broderick too. However, I like Kiki from a writing standpoint better. Chris - Listen to Angra's "Rebirth" & "Temple of Shadows," there is some mesmerizing playing on both those albums by Kiko and not to short is his counterpart either Rafael Bittencourt.
kiko is a total sweetie, definitely very down to earthLet Kiko Bless Your Soul:

I'll be honest. Besides a couple of things with Drover, I loved him in Megadeth. I think United Abominations was a solid metal album with Drover.
Of course, Kiko is at the top for Dave because he is currently in the band. However, he's contributed some great stuff and I still cannot believe he has a grammy. <3
I love he's in the band. Super nice guy and Broderick too.
