Great advice. One thing I do is keep ear plugs in my wallet. If I find myself in a loud situation I have protection. I wear ear plugs at every concert I attend. Not having ringing ears afterwards and not cringing while the band plays is great.
On a sort of related note: Don't keep condoms in your wallet. They wear out from all the stress and might make you a parent.

Great read. I err on the overly cautious side so I haven't had much hearing loss that I notice, aside from the treble loss that accompanies age. I count myself lucky.
